Teacher Hiring Process

Would you like to get involved in the teacher hiring process for next year? Join a teacher hiring committee this spring. To qualify, parents must attend a one-hour training. Upcoming trainings are Tuesday, April 8, and Thursday, May 8, both 4-5 pm, at the John Stanford Center. To register or get more details, email Regina Redmond at Note: You do not need to repeat this  training if you’ve taken it a previous year.

A message from Interim Principal Christine Helm:

“I will personally select parents to serve on the hiring team from a list of qualified parents provided to me by the Seattle Education Association (SEA). Teacher hires follow a process and timeline agreed upon by the District and the SEA. Thurgood Marshall’s available positions for 2014-15 will be first advertised in early May to internal candidates who are already part- or full-time certificated teachers in the District. After all internal candidates have secured positions within the Seattle Public Schools, the remaining open jobs can be advertised to external candidates, in early June.”
