Tutu’s Pantry food bank

Tutu’s Pantry is a PTA program that provides families with food for weekend meals during the school year. Students whose families have asked for Tutu’s Pantry assistance will take home a backpack of items each Friday. There is no charge. We are grateful to our many supporters at Thurgood Marshall, and also at the French-American School of Puget Sound and Japanese Presbyterian Church. Very special thanks to Rotary Club of Emerald City.

Every September, we update our info flier, which also includes information on how to donate AND how to sign up for food!

TO RECEIVE FOOD

  • Who can apply? Any family with a student now enrolled at Thurgood Marshall.
  • How to start? Fill out our short form (available at the office, from teachers, or downloadable by using link on left side of this site’s home page).  Return the form to your child’s teacher or the office. Forms are available all school year, and you may start (or end) at any time.

TO DONATE FOOD

  • How do I donate? See our flier or Pup Press for suggested weeks that each grade is asked to bring in food donations. Non-perishable items such as canned meats, pasta, rice, beans, peanut butter, and cereal will be collected in the big bins inside the main school entrance.

* In October and November, we hold a special food drive for our Thanksgiving “Meals in a Bag.”
