About PTA General Meetings
Thurgood Marshall PTA General Meetings take place 4-5 times each year in the school Library, and often include special guests, such as a parenting expert, School Board member or TM staff member. For example, recent years’ meetings featured the movie “Screenagers” (about kids’ screen use); a talk by Amy Lang on the “Birds & Bees”; educational technology ideas from consultant Jim Dunnegin; and a blunt discussion of equity in education with a 6-person panel.
Also, the Principal and PTA Board members give updates on curriculum, staffing, budget, teacher grant requests and other relevant topics. Meetings are open to all parents/guardians of current students, as well as involved community members. Suggestions and guest speakers are welcomed and encouraged!
