Parents and guardians, students, educators and community members are being sought to join staff representatives on the upcoming Advanced Learning Task Force.
The group will help the District try to rethink and re-examine its advanced learning practices, so that every student receives the highest-quality instruction necessary to grow and achieve. Application deadline is May 24.
For about a year, starting in June, the task force will review state laws, District policies and commitments; examine research and best instructional practices for advanced and highly capable learners; and make recommendations toward establishing highly effective practices befitting students and their families.
The task force will:
- Adopt a mission and vision for Advanced Learning in the District;
- Define and/or re-develop Advanced Learning programs and Highly Capable services;
- Ensure equitable identification and access by reviewing the existing identification, testing, assessment and eligibility procedures as well as considering current research, best practices and outcomes from peer districts.
- Considering the outcomes from work areas 1-3, the task force will provide recommendations regarding implementation across the District.
